A wonderful evening of flower arranging taught by the talented Maani Akuira (Orkid). We learned about the history and philosophy of ancient Japanese Ikebana and had the chance to play around with a variety of fresh flowers, both freehand and with our kenzans. Exploring the layering and visual intricacies of floral design definitely deepened our appreciation for the art form, but with some much-needed guidance, we were able to turn our beginner attempts into beautiful arrangements. The workshop was creative, fun, and a liiiittle bit competitive (though, of course, everyone’s arrangements were equally gorgeous).
